It was busy. VERY busy. The tearoom was bustling with clinking china cups and in depth conversation, vintage clothed tables piled high with teapots and three tier stands displaying finger sandwiches, scones and cakes, the demand keeping the kitchen going at full pelt and sending warming swirls of delicious scents into the air and filling the tearoom; Gemma adored days like this, where she knew her family was going to make a decent day's turnover, but at the same time she favour the fact she generally ended the day with aching feet. Despite that, Gemma kept her sunny smile firmly on her lips as she carried a tray of freshly brewing tea out from the kitchen, using her hip to push the door open and stepping out into the full tearoom.
The blonde looked round, her golden curls swept up into a ponytail, before glancing down at the ticket on the tray which specified the table that had ordered the strawberry champagne flavoured brew.
She pouted a little, before glancing over to the table in question, which was on the far side of the room... Through a minefield of bustling tables and other waitresses. Balancing the tea tray on her shoulder, Gemma effortlessly made her across the tearoom, her uniform's skirt swaying a little as she did so. She bowed her head a little and smiled politely at each customer who caught her gaze, gasping as she just about managed to avoid a customer who had abruptly shoved their chair out in order to stand. She bit her bottom lip, casting the customer a sunny sheepish grin, before giving a thankful sigh. She inwardly complimented her fast reactions.
"Hi, sorry about the wait, the kitchen is hectic-" She began to say, an illuminating smile on her face, as she reached the table, her hand having been about to take the cup from the tray to present it to the customer... When another suddenly bumped into her from behind. The hurried apology from the man went unheard as Gemma gave a sharp gasp of horror; The cup of hot tea had been sent flying into the customer's lap. "OH MY GOODNESS I'M SO SORRY!" Gemma spoke franticly, her words catching a little in her throat as she hurriedly threw the tea tray onto the table and snatched up the carefully folded napkin from the tray. "I'm so sorry, so, so, so sorry!" She offered the napkin to the customer.
