Beau Maria Barcella
Face Claim: Amber Heard
————————————————
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Orientation: Unsure
Position: High School Student
Godly Inheritance: Poseidon
Power(s): Hydrokinesis
Beau's ability allows her to manipulate forms of water. She can lift water and form it into shapes or send it in a high speed blast that is capable of cutting through solid rock depending on how fast she shoots it. She is also able to generate waves or even whirlpools in larger pools of water, although this requires more focus. Beau additionally has the ability to drain the moisture from the air and condense it into a single mass of water, but this is extremely stressful for her to do.
Her ability is due to her mental capabilities, which allow her to control water molecules. It works very similarly to telekinesis, only it singularly applies to things with a water base (i.e.: alcohol). She can’t manipulate anything else (i.e.: sand or solid metal).
Limitations:
- Unable to manipulate anything other than liquid molecules
- Denser fluids (i.e: blood) are more difficult for Beau to control and require more concentration while also draining her more. Fluids that are less dense are easier for her to control.
- Range: 30 meter radius
- Can use her powers for a maximum of two hours before falling unconscious. If Beau condenses the water in the air around her, that time will cut in half due to the strain it puts on her.
- Requires water- whether in mass bulk or in the air- in order for the ability to work. If there is no water around and the air is completely dry, Beau cannot use her powers
- Requires her focus in order for her power to work. If Beau can’t concentrate she can’t effectively use her ability
- Unable to manipulate her own blood or bodily fluids
- Can't manipulate an enormous amount of water (i.e.: an entire lake)
Side-Effects:
- Mental Strain: Due to the dependency on her mental capability, the user will often face increasingly bad headaches when their power is overused. Beau’s headache will increase over time as she approaches her max with her senses being affected along the way (i.e.: blurry vision or consistent ringing in her ears).
- Fluidity: Due to the user’s connection to water, they are more fluid in physical movement. As a result Beau is more flexible than most normal people and walks with a natural grace.
- Electrical Weakness: The user has both an extreme phobia and greater weakness to electricity.
- Hydration: As a result of the user’s powers, the user must hydrate more than the average person.
- Increased Focus: Due to the power’s dependency on the user’s concentration, the user will have more ease focusing during day to day activities considering they must be incredibly focused while using their ability.
- Boiling Water: Due to the high speed, water shot in a jet stream by the user will often heat up depending on how fast it travels. Beau can shoot a jet of water fast enough to boil it, but she can also get hurt by it should it touch her. She is not immune to burns.
Height: 167.64cm (5feet, 6inches)
Hair Color: Strawberry blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Physical Description: Following after my mother’s example, I like to keep in style with fashion. Appearance is important after all for making good impressions. However I tend to enjoy blouses the most, and on occasion I’ll settle for flannel. Dresses are typically my go to outfit for classes or exploring town when I don’t have a proper outfit planned out, but even I like wearing pants now and then.
When I’m alone in my dorm I usually end up wearing the softest things I own. Which happen to also be the most unfashionable and loosest things I own. I particularly like wearing my large Texas hoodie to bed.
Personality:
When I come up as a topic normally my manners are mentioned first. My mother always taught me that being polite was important, even if I didn’t like a person. "Respect the position, if not the person.” She’d tell me that repeatedly, and eventually I learned to actually utilize the saying. Turns out people are a lot more cooperative if they think you respect them.
I do have a temper, but I keep it hidden and let it seep out gradually. Although the normal telltale sign of when I’m getting upset or fired up is when my accent becomes stronger. It’s already pretty evident, but it only gets worse when I’m angry. Although that usually doesn’t happen very often, I’m happy to say. I typically have enough patience to deal with most people, even the particularly infuriating ones.
I try to be as sweet as I can be, honestly. A simple act of kindness can often go a long way. Although I'll admit that sometimes it can be a trifle hard for me to be sweet to someone. Especially if that someone has the manners of a wild hog. While I do try my best try my best I'm not about to let someone step all over me. I'll help but I'm not inclined to go complete out of my way for anything less than a best friend.
Which I reckon brings me around to my persistence. I'm a very determined type of girl, especially when I want something and even more so if someone tells me I can't do something. I love proving people wrong, I confess. There's some sort of wicked satisfaction I get from their faces. It's bad but honestly at this point I don't rightly care. If you're going to underestimate me, then watch out; this underdog bites.
That brings me to the last important thing you should know about me. I like taking risks even for all the logic I show. There's a certain thrill to doing something a tad bit dangerous that I simply can't resist. Whether or not that means I'll get down and dirty or not hardly effects me. Although I'm not stupid. If there's a likely chance I could end up dead or horribly injured, then I'll probably pass. I like a challenge, not a death sentence.

Childhood:
Let’s get something out of the way because I always get the question: how are you related to the Reyes? Well, my uncle- on my father’s side- married one of the daughters in the Reyes family. Thus we became cousins. It’s simple really.
Now then, to talk about my childhood we would have to talk about my parents first. My father comes from an esteemed line of Poseidon descendants who mainly have powers relating to horses. There’s some outliers who don’t but for the main part most of us are excellent handlers. My father was no exception and went on to build his own ranch in Waco, Texas. That’s where he met my mother, who hadn’t an ounce of godly blood in her.
According to him he was instantly smitten, and I’m inclined to believe him. My mother was a natural born beauty, and I dare say she could hold her own against some children of Aphrodite. She was a true southern lady, but she also knew her own way around animals and farming. Although my father’s family was still very disapproving of any sort of courtship between the two considering my mother wasn’t of godly descent. That didn’t stop my father from pursuing her, and even though it cut him off from the family he didn’t care.
Although that did manage to draw Poseidon’s eye, considering some of his more prominent descendants were making such a fuss. Which is how he found my mother and also tried to woo her. She resisted and eventually my father had to confront Poseidon on the issue seeing as he was trying to steal his wife. I’m not too sure how the arrangement came about since it’s a topic my parents aren’t exactly fond of discussing, but Poseidon did manage to be with my mother for a night. It was something that neither of my parents seemed too thrilled with, but considering I’m born from that strange little deal I can’t complain much.
Although my parents never treated the babies any different from each other. When Elliot first came they were both thrilled despite him not being my father’s. I think they were truly happy just having more to our family, because let’s face it there’s six of us. Clearly they weren’t too peeved with Poseidon sniffing around. It managed to bring my father’s family back into the equation at any rate. Once they heard Poseidon had taken an interest in my mother and gave her a son, they were more than happy to let us back in. Isn’t that simply the sweetest thing?
At any rate, growing up in Texas was amazing. The ranch was absolutely beautiful to live on and I adored our horses. My father would often let us try to “help” him with handling them, but honestly he was only letting us get used to them and play. Dori was the one with the clearest connection to them; they loved her. Will and I were second to her when it came to the horses’ affections, which was why we were surprised my powers had nothing to do with them at all! Although my powers didn’t come until much later, which might’ve gotten some teasing in other families but mine was just peachy keen. I love my brothers and sisters very much.
Adolescence: When I hit my teen years, my powers still hadn’t manifested. I’ll admit I was a might bit concerned, but the good news was that I could stay in my home town with my family for longer. Elli’s power came right when he was 14, so he had to leave pretty early on. Will and Dori both discovered their own when they were 16, so I got to see them for longer. Before they left, things were pretty nice even though it was high school.
High school was an “adventurous” time for me I guess you could say. My siblings and I went to a fairly well off school in the area. My group of friends tended to be a bit more sophisticated than my siblings. I wouldn’t say stuck up- although I know a few who would use the word- but rather well behaved and good mannered. We did have fun, and not simply by sipping tea or reading a book. More often than not we’d go out to rodeos and one time we actually got to participate. I’m proud to say I held on the longest.
Although if I’m going to mention my friends, I’ll have to mention Mary. Mary Sinclair was one of my very best friends. She was the first girl I met whenever I went to school, and after that we stuck together better than wood glue. Maybe that should’ve been a sign that something more was going on there, but then again it’s hard telling when a great friendship might be more. Besides, I’d dated my fair share of boys while we were in school and never once glanced a girl’s way. That doesn’t mean none of them were pretty, because honestly there were enough lookers there that I could’ve had my easy pickings. I simply never thought of the possibility.
Which was why it caught me with my pants down when we ended up kissing on the fourth of July. All I remember was we were watching fireworks and things simply happened. At the end of it all, what I knew was: I liked it. Enough that we started dating. I could hardly believe it but honestly Mary knew me better than anyone. If no one else, why not her? It certainly worked out, for the few months we were together. Unfortunately my godly blood choose to activate then.
I was seventeen when it happened and ended up accidentally breaking most of the pipes in our school. We all had to leave since much of the building was being flooded with water. Little did I realize that was me until I went home and found a recruiter from Olympus Falls waiting for me. I was excited I finally got my powers, but at the same time devastated. I had to call up Mary and explain things to her as best as I could. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but we thankfully left on good terms. I explained to her I didn’t want to force her into a long distance relationship when I knew she could easily find anyone else she wanted. She understood, but I honestly don’t think either of us were very happy.
Adulthood: After Mary and I parted, I soon set off for Corinth with my little sister Vic. She’d awoken her godly blood while she was sixteen, and like most of my family it had to do with horses. Fortunately when we got there, the Reyes offered us a place to stay if we wanted. I decided to keep a room in the dorms, but often times I’ll simply head over to their home to stay instead.
I have to say I do like Olympus Falls, but I miss my home terribly. Especially my friends and especially Mary. Unfortunately we haven’t kept in touch as much so I’ve not a single clue what she’s been up to. The rest of my friend are usually good, but I still wish I was seeing them face-to-face instead of screen-to-screen. So I suppose you could say I’m a little bitter despite it all. Corinth is an absolutely beautiful place, don’t get me wrong! However it’s still not home.
