Alistair Vincent Cerberus
Face Claim: Tim Roth
————————————————
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Position: Olympus Falls Security Staff
Godly Inheritance: Hound of Hades
Power(s): Heightened Senses and Underworld Hound form
Alistair's senses, in both his human form and his hound form, are heightened beyond that of an average human. His sense of smell is the most significantly increased, around six times greater, making it the same level as that of a dog's.
Alistair can also take on the form of a large, black hound. About the size of a small horse with fur as pitch black as ink, rows upon rows of violent teeth and piercing white eyes, this state is immensely terrifying.
Limitations:
- Alistair cannot transform into his full hound state in bright sunlight. Sunlight saps his supernatural side, and although he retains his heightened senses, forcing himself to shift in such weather would greatly damage him, causing him to be significantly weakened, and if he continues to force himself he'd likely collapse within minutes.
- Alistair's enhanced eyesight, although greatly heightened, is not night vision. In order to see well in the dark, he needs to be in his hound form.
- While in the Underworld Alistair can remain in his hound state for as long as he wishes to with no ill effect; However, while in the mortal world, around an hour is his limit before he begins to grow physically weaker.
Side-Effects:
- After being in his hound form for close to an hour, Alistair often retains certain physical traits from it for up to three hours afterwards. These are generally obviously sharper then human teeth, and his whited out eyes, which is often the reason why he's seen wearing sunglasses.
- Being what he is, Alistair's eyes are sensitive to sunlight. He also finds himself weaker while out in bright sunlight.
- After transforming back to his human form, Alistair is VERY hungry. He'll need to consume a large amount of calories in a short period of time else risk collapsing.
- Remaining in his hound form for longer then an hour while outside of the Underworld pays a heavy toll, starting with physical weakness and finally resulting in Alistair collapsing and falling unconscious. Once he collapses, he returns to his human form. If he doesn't receive the energy through food he needs, he'll die.
- After transforming back to his human form, Alistair often retains his more animal like instincts, making him more likely to act on impulse despite his controlled manner. He often becomes over protective of those he cares for and can also act territorial.
Height: 5"9
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: While in his human form, hazel. While in his hound form, a pure white.
Physical Description: His body is covered with scars from various training incidents, generally these are covered up with his clothing. Alistair is generally always seen in a well tailored suit. He takes great pride in making sure his attire is clean cut. Just because you're generally dealing with the dregs of society, doesn't mean you have to dress like it. When he's training himself physically, he generally wears vests and his Father's leather jacket, which is one of his most prized items.
Personality:
Rude to a degree and friendly to a point depending on who he's dealing with, classy and calculating, Alistair is a man who can come across as sharp tongued, who’s central joy and purpose in life is his work, protecting the
children of Hades.
Outwardly, Alistair is a positive individual, and often will see the brighter side of a situation, no matter how horrific it is, as long as his charges are safe. He’s a gentleman in terms of his manners, having been brought up with the social class knowledge necessary for guarding those of godly inheritance. If you were to speak to him, this calm, teasing, individual seems very far from any violent creature.
He likes to think of himself as approachable, and hey, if you’ve got a problem and he happens to be around he wouldn’t think twice about helping those he feels deserve it. That's not to say he's overly nice; Alistair will not hesitate to tease someone or banter with them if they start it first, and especially if he thinks they're enjoying it as much as he is, and on occasion he can come across as being quite sarcastic.
Beyond this light hearted nature however, lurks an intelligent man judging your every word and movement, and evaluating your potential. This is something which was so reinforced by his training, he often does it without even thinking.
Alistair’s training pushes the ability to talk your way out of a situation pior to violence, and this is something he excels in. Alistair can adapt to different given situations, and reacts judging on what’s the most beneficial outcome. Violence is always an option, although unless the situation calls for it or he’s given a direct order from Hades, Alistair will strive to incapacitate an opponent before attempting any form of aggression or violence. To him, there is always a way out, always a method of leaving a situation unharmed, depending on how you play your opponent.
Alistair never reacts without thinking a situation through, and upon entering any situation will calculate various potential outcomes of it. Even while attempting to talk his way out of a violent situation, he is judging and calculating the best way to take out the aggressor, even if he seems completely calm. He’s quite thick skinned, and rarely raises to the insults or comments of others directed at him personally, but is more likely to raise to anything negative directed towards Hades, his children or anyone one he respects.
He does not exactly revel in violence, but adores the thrill of the hunt; While he remains generally calm while in nerve wracking situations, if he becomes gravely hurt afterwards he has a tendency to panic, like most wild animals would.
His work is his life. Alistair will go above and beyond for Hades' children, valuing their wellbeing over his own life. While his actions are generally performed meaningfully, he’s not past falsifying kindness or any other emotion in order to gain something he needs, no matter how he may feel personally towards the person he’s dealing with. Anyone close to a child of his master is closely monitored and evaluated, for their weaknesses, potential safety risks and their plus points. When it comes to his work Alistair is obedient, resilient and a perfectionist. He makes his choices with his charges in mind, and everything he does in terms of them is done to protect them. He's also extremely protective of his siblings and his family.

Childhood: Alistair was born to into the Cerberus family as the first born son, and although he wasn’t aware at a young age, his family life was a restricted yet privileged environment. The Cerberus family have been connected to the Underworld for generations, their tireless work and devotion to Hades earning them respect and a reputation to be admired. They were known for going above and beyond for their work, putting their lives on the line and being highly tuned in their skillsets.
The primary function of this close knit family of Demigods is simple; Three are chosen from each new generation to become the infamous "Three Heads of Cerberus" who are to guard the Underworld, protect Hades' children and return any wayward souls back to the Underworld. When they come of age, they are allowed to pit themselves against Hades' tests; If they fail, the privilege remains that of the current Heads. If they pass, Hades selects the most poor performing Head to step down and be replaced.
This is a legacy going back generations, and when Alistair was born, his Father and his two uncles were the current Three Heads.
Alistair’s father kept his work separate to his family life in New York, although he kept them in a secluded area in order to keep them far from the work life he led. Alistair was raised mostly by his mother Mary, who home schooled him and his siblings.
It was from her Alistair learned manners and etiquette, which she herself had prided herself in after being taught it at a finishing school.
Alistair's mother was human, so at first it was suspected that him and his siblings wouldn't inherit the Underworld powers and duties, and that it would fall to his cousins who were already showing signs of inherited abilities.
Adolescence:
Much to his Mother’s displeasure, Alistair wanted to learn as many of the skills that his father knew in terms of physical fighting ability, especially since he didn't seem to have gained his Father's supernatural abilities. He wanted to prove himself, especially since the rest of his family were already looking down on him for having a human mother.
He trained in hand to hand combat from the age of 12, learning at an exceptionally fast rate. Taking to it naturally, Alistair excelled in all manner of fighting styles, developing a natural sense for judging an opponents’ next move.
When his Father was walking him home from a training session, his Father became aware of something following them. While walking through Central Park, they were attacked viciously by an Empusa. Empusa are vampire like creatures, and while usually under the control of the Goddess Hecate, the wayward creature had taken to the idea that eating the blood and fresh of an Underworld Hound would grant it greater power then feeding from a human.
Alistair's father fought back, but having been cornered during the late daylight hours, his supernatural power was weakened. After a violent few minutes, he attempted to transform, only for the creature to seize the opportunity and brutally pin Alistair's Father down and going for his throat. Alistair made a desperate attempt to fight back, tackling the creature. The resulting fight caused his dormant supernatural abilities to awaken. Eventually he managed to fight off the creature, although now with whited out eyes, violently sharp teeth and blood all around his mouth.
Despite the attempt to save his Father's life, he lost the to his ravaged injuries, which devastated the entire family. Desperate to continue his Father's legacy, Alistair was determined to master his abilities and be appointed one of the Three Heads.
Having seen the way his Father had relied too heavily on his supernatural skill, which had been his downfall,
Alistair focused on learning physical skills such as hand to hand combat, disciplining himself to learning how to judge the movement of attackers and the fastest methods of incapacitation without the use of his powers. His skillset continued to grow, as he took a great interest in researching guns and various other weaponry.
It soon became obvious that at least two of his siblings had also gained their supernatural inheritance from their Father, and the three children became focused as a group to earn the honour their Father had as opposed to it being given to their cousins.
Adulthood:
Alistair helped train his siblings through the years, waiting until Olivia came of age so that the three could all face the trials Hades set for them as a trio.
At the age of 21, after being tested vigorously by Hades, Alistair's two Uncles and his Auntie whom had stepped in to replace his Father, stepped down as the Three Heads and Alistair and two of his siblings were selected as the next, with Alistair appointed as the "Alpha" of the trio. After a few years doing the usual duties that entailed, Alistair was sent to work as Security for Olympus Falls in California. This was done as a show of good grace on Hades' part, who'd been accused of doing little to aid the school; Down on paper Alistair is to protect all students and staff, but in actual fact Hades has instructed him that the protection of his children are above those of the other Gods and Goddesses, and ESPECIALLY above those who are Titan born. Alistair isn't past dragging wayward children of Hades to the Underworld to endure the wrath of their godly inheritor should the need be called for it.
Alistair's duties at the school involve patrolling the grounds, and generally keeping the students and staff safe. He tries to avoid using his hound form, since using it in the mortal realm can lead to side effects, and is more likely to rely on his hand to hand combat skills and his handgun, which uses metal bullets made of Stygian Iron.
Sample: The gunshot that rang out, sending a flurry of screeching birds into the desolate sky, sounded in such close proximity to the Undertaker for a fleeting second he thought HE had been one shot at; this was followed shortly by a horrific crash. He immediately slowed his full pelt run to an agonising stumble, his free hand now clutching at the top of his deep grey overcoat as he panted through gritted teeth; the air escaping between the uneven gaps sounded like a faint hiss, slowing to a complete stop as he hunched his body over, eyes clenched shut. His heart was thundering violently, so violently it was almost a wonder how it didn't leap from his very chest... His heartbeat was normally so irregular, often so relatively faint that he barely noticed it, and the feeling of it practically trying to rip itself from his ribcage was both unfamiliar and bizarrely welcoming... It felt almost normal.
This moment of respite was however short lived, as a furious hiss from the uneven rooftop above sank the man's heart to the pit of his stomach; and without a second thought or glance upwards towards the animal he broke once again into a run.
The undertaker at first hadn't been too concerned for his companions, despite the gunshot, since the being they pursued didn't wield a gun... and the shot combined with the crash from one of the entwining alleyways nearby had led to the quick assumption by Eric that the pistol that had been fired, a weapon he very easily recognised, had hit it's target; presumably, their prey... An assumption disputed by the cat's shrill, frantic cry at Eric's fleeting pause. The child... It had to be the child. He turned heel sharply to bring himself to a skidding stop, sliding into the more open area of a ramshackle crossroads; the weight of the shovel on one shoulder meant he had to lean to the opposite side and practically crouch to the floor as he did so, to avoid loosing his balance and ending up on the floor.
