Nathan laid across the large two seater couch as if it were a bed, because of his height both his legs dangled off the far end of the couch and moved rhythmically. He had a bottle of ice cold water and a packet of cookies on his chest, an exam pad in one hand and a pencil in the other. Nathan knew he had an assignment due next week and everyone had been freaking out about it, that was one of the reasons Nathan left his nervous roommate alone in their dorm. Nothing was worse than being around someone who was so nervous that it became contagious. Even though Nathan had told himself that he would make a draft of the first part of the assignment right now, his exam pad was still empty. He looked at the exam pad for a few seconds and gently tapped the back of his pencil on his upper lip, Nathan was deep in thought but not about the assignment. He hadn't really been taking the assignment seriously because it wasn't all that difficult, it was just unnecessarily long. After a few seconds of thought and tapping his pencil on his lip he began writing.
No, he wasn't starting his assignment. Instead Nathan had decided to start writing a song for the gig he had on friday. Originally he was going to perform one of his old songs but he couldn't resist trying to cook up something new. He figured it was worth the extra effort since the payment was good. As soon as he started writing the song Nathan was bombarded by thoughts as his pen raced across the page in an attempt to record each thought before the next came along. He stopped writing for a moment or two to look at the couch's shadow before he continued writing. Immediately after being looked at the couch's shadow split up and began taking the shape of four human sized hands connected to long arms. Now instead of casting a shadow that looked like it, the couch cast a shadow of four human sized hands on the ground. Each hand Nathan had formed from the coach's shadow became more and more dense until they had all become 3 Dimensional objects and as solid as a normal hand would be. One pair of shadow hands pulled Nathan's phone and earphones out of his pockets all while Nathan continued writing out his thoughts on the exam pad.
Nathan paid little attention to the shadow hands and continued writing, surprisingly the hands were quite coordinated even though he wasn't completely focused on controlling them. They were able to quickly plug the earphones into the phone before putting them in Nathan's ears and playing a song. The other pair of shadow hands opened up the packet of cookies on Nathan's chest and began feeding him without interrupting Nathan as he wrote the song.
