Selina watched the godlings competing in the Arena and yawned. She far preferred being the actual competition to being a bystander but she was restricted from most activities due to the brand that currently marked her as being powerless and on probation. She idly ran a finger over the letter etched into her skin and wondered if the brand would leave a permanent mark when removed. Would she be considered vain for caring? Maybe, but these past nine months weren’t something she wanted a perpetual reminder of.
Selina slowly stretched out and decided not to worry about it. She heard the demigods leaving the arena and closed her eyes, hoping she’d finally find some peace and quiet. There wasn’t much she had to do this afternoon and lazing about in the sunshine was as good an option as any other. The coldness of the metal bleacher beneath her didn’t bother her in the slightest as the sun warmed her from above. Her ribs were still painful from the beating she’d taken a few weeks ago but she was far better than she had been, so she could lay down without flinching.
Selina’s thoughts drifted aimlessly and she soon found herself falling asleep. Her body was worn out from the stress of constantly being on guard, and the sun was comforting while not being too hot. The arena probably wasn’t the best place to take a nap, but she couldn’t force herself to care. If anybody tried anything, she’d deal with them when she woke up, but for now, sleep seemed to be in order. She paused as she heard someone approaching though, her entire body tensing as she prepared for anything, although she didn’t move as she knew that getting up quickly would be painful, regardless of how much healing had occurred, “Can I help you?” she asked instead, her eyes still shut and her expression deceptively languid.
