It was pretty much like that, I spent so long thinking of myself as weak, plain and inferior.
It was weird, like I couldn't even register what I really looked like, I spent hours in front of a mirror, telling myself that this was who I was, I decided I needed to own the fact that I'm not what she told me, I've learned that I'm actually pretty awesome, everyone here is.
I've just done my best to walk the line between self esteem and vanity.
As much as they might want us to, we can't hide what we are.
"Yeah we can't hide what we are. Thing is though, with the whole demigod thing...well it's kinda like how I can get away with flying. Nobody's looking for a flying guy. And nobody's looking for a chick or dude who are half god either. The fact that the Leclaires think we're better just because we have godsblood...well that's never really sat right with me personally." Tyler rubbed the back of his neck.
"It annoys me when someone thinks they're better just because of where they came from. Respect isn't something you're born with. It's something you're supposed to earn. Taking advantage of the respect your family's earned just seems kinda low to me. Then again, that's just me." He stepped off the treadmill for a moment, grabbing his water bottle and taking a long swig from it.
"And I think pretty much any teen's like that unless they grow up thinking they're god's gift to the world. Looking in the mirror and thinking you're crap? It's kinda normal unfortunately. I'm glad you think otherwise now though."

I can understand that, but I think it's up to us to decide what the Leclaire name means in the future, we're the next generation, there may be sins in the past, sure, but after everything they've done for me, I can't judge them.
I completely agree about respect, I don't plan on letting the name define me, I plan on defining what the name means.
"Nice to know you're hesitant to judge people, but be careful. They seldom do things out of the goodness of their hearts. I do agree about us deciding what the Leclaire name means in the future. That's why I haven't distanced myself from them yet. Changing an organization from within is much easier." He smiled.
"The money is indeed nice. Especially when they think they can buy your feelings. I managed to get a pretty sweet car out of the deal." He grinned and chuckled at the attempt to joke.
"Clothes yeah I can imagine it must be difficult for you." He grinned. He'd been looking up a bit at her since they started talking, so it was noticeable. Tyler was glad she'd broached the topic herself though, because it was awkward to bring something like that up. When she mentioned the motorcyle he grinned.
"I dunno it's hard to say what would suit you...you sure a Mini Cooper isn't your taste?" He tried to keep a straight face while he was saying it too.
"Sorry I couldn't help myself. If you'd like, you can make a short joke towards me as payback. Would be perfectly alright."

Huh? Sorry, couldn't hear ya down there.
She smiled mischievously.
Believe me, I've heard it before, I don't care, though, besides, it's pretty awesome being the big girl on campus, so to speak.
I'm not sure being an athlete is the future, though, kinda why I didn't join the basketball team, there might be more opportunity there, but I don't know if it would be fair to go pro, be too tempting to use my abilities.
He grinned when she cracked the joke. Then he heard her say she didn't mind the jokes and he shrugged.
"It's good to see a girl who's actually comfortable in her skin. So many are worried about the judgment of others. Which is a total waste of time 'cause you can't please everyone all the time." Tyler smiled. When she mentioned using her abilities in sports, he hmmed.
"Well it might be an unfair advantage, but if you hid it well enough people wouldn't even think 'demigod'. Besides, technically they are god-given talents...literally. And I don't play any sports really. I used to run track before I got my powers, but afterwards I was...occupied with the guidance counsellor I guess. Never really went back to track. I guess I could. I'd probably do decently considering I run after monsters."
"I'd probably die of fright being at the Olympics. I mean we're not supposed to be discovered I don't think. Or that's what I always thought anyway. Either way that many people watching me would probably freak me out." Tyler chuckled.
"I might try track again sometime. If only to remind myself of when I was a little kid."

We can't hide forever.
Especially considering the state of the world these days, people out there could use some inspiration.
When I found out the gods were real, after I processed my whole deal, I thought about it and I wept with joy.
People always look to escape from reality to worlds of fantasy because it's depressing, looking around and seeing a world without magic, without wonder.
But you and I know the truth, and it fills my heart, because we know anything is possible.
Fel puts a hand on Tyler's shoulder.
We shouldn't be afraid to be us.
Because I know that if we all work together, we can overcome anything they throw at us.
"I know we can't hide forever. And I'm not exactly afraid. I just don't want to particularly be in the spotlight. Ideally I just work at my job with the Special Police, maybe best case scenario keep some poor demigod's family together so they don't have to go through what I did. I just want to kill monsters and protect people. Also, nice try with the leadership feeling. Seems you're getting the hang of that one. I have it too, so I recognize it, but it's kind of different having the feeling of being inspired by someone instead of putting that feeling out myself." He grinned.
"Let's hope it isn't a calm before a storm. It would stink if the demititans had cooked up some scheme." His mum had warned him about demititans and their habits of making trouble for the gods and their kids. Considering they were the kids of the titans, he wouldn't put it past them.
