Emma Rae Forrester
Face Claim: Astrid Berges-Frisbey
————————————————
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Female
Orientation: Asexual
Position: University Student -- Freshman
Godly Inheritance: Hades -- Unknown to her
Power(s):
Night Vision & Geokinesis
Emma has the ability to see clearly in low light and total darkness. She also had the ability to manipulate elements derived from earth. She can only shape and manipulate earth including most solid objects, specifically all minerals and mineral compositions regardless of their state (Sand, stone, rock, dirt, etc).
At this point in time Emma can do little to minimal earth manipulation. She is only able to move things that tend to be on the lighter and smaller side, like small rocks or pebbles, and some dirt, no more than a handful. As for her night vision, it’s almost as if a switch has be flicked and there is no way to turn it off at the moment. She tends to wear larger dark sunglasses during the day to protect her eyes.
Limitations:Side-Effects:
- Unable to create earth. Can only manipulate only from already existing source.
- Can only move things that are small and light (small rocks and pebbles, some dirt and sand no more than a handful).
- Can only manipulate earth for a short amount of time. Her maximum limit right now is about two minutes.
- Glass and artificial solids are impossible for her to control.
- Weak against electricity manipulation.
- Geokinetic immunity.
- Sensitive to sudden flashed or bright light.
- It takes a while for her eyes to adapt to regular light (Soft artificial light is fine, the sun on the other hand she needs to be extra careful around).
- If she does not acclimate her eyes to the normal light it can cause her eyes to burn and in extreme cases even temporary blindness.
- Over use of earth manipulation can lead to headaches.
- She also had a tendency to be found physically dirty the more she uses her ability. Also, she tends to lean toward being outside as she finds the more time spent inside leads to her going a bit hysterical. Which is a constant battle of balance due to her light sensitivity.
Height: 5'6"
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Grey
Physical Description:Emma is more or less a plain Jane, and she prefers to keep it that way. Simple, casual, and comfortable is the way she likes to dress. She doesn’t wear flashy colors or jewelry and her closet is full of dull earthy tones. What else? Not much really, she has only two piercings (one on each ear) and she only keeps her tiny small pearl studs in them.Personality:When it comes to her life, Emma tends to take a cautious, responsible take on the matter.
Emma likes to think of herself as a normal, ordinary everyday person. A simple nobody who just wants to get through her life as simple and safe as she possibly can. Down to earth, practical, dependable (to those who deserve it) she tends to play it safe and usually prefers her mundane everyday routine over new and surprising things. She’s a hard worker when she is inspired and feels that it is the one thing that will help you get far in life. Her patience helps her get through even the most troublesome of times and is always determined to make it through.
Emma tends to be on the mature end for her age and is amply blessed with common sense and a realistic view of the world (even if some find her cynical she denies it). She loves to blend in with the crowd, finding no real reward in standing out. She has a taste of traditional values and tends to be reserved. However, she still wants to maintain an appearance of politeness and friendliness. The Good:
Responsible
Patient
Ambitious (for her one personal goal.)
Resourceful
Loyal (to those who she feels she can trust. Which has been only one person.)
The Bad:
Dictatorial
Inhibited
Conceited
Distrusting
Unimaginative
Secret(s):She once sent in a cake she made to a baking competition and won, but never claimed her reward in fear of it being publicly announced. Also, she sleeps with her stuffed lamb, named Lamby, every night since she had gotten it a few weeks after she was born.
Parents: Unknown.
Siblings: None.
Worthy Mentions: Sister Margret Mary May
Childhood:Adolescence:Emma Rae Forrester was born on a cold winter day. The first day of the New Year. The infant squirmed in her tattered blanket as the snowflakes gently landed on her fresh skin. Panicked the woman in the glitter hood wobbled down the slippery sidewalk before stopping in front of a church. Feeling her fingers go numb, her body shook as she laid the new born on the steps. As the baby rested on the cold concrete, the sharp cry that emerged frightened the woman. The woman let out a cough before running off into the frosty dark night.
It was about an hour before anyone had found the screaming infant. A thin layer of snow coated the child, and as the Sister picked up the baby in her arms her eyes went wide in horror to discover the faint blue hue of the child’s skin…
Emma had always considered her childhood nothing short of normal. Growing up in a church was normal to her, she was surrounded by other children as well. To her, this was normal. She had nothing to compare it to. She had a warm place to sleep, three meals a day, plenty of brothers and sisters, and a loving environment.Adulthood:As the years when on she began to realize that other kids came and went, yet she still remained. People would come and almost always want to adopt the youngest ones. It was at the age of ten she realized her chances of being chosen where getting slimmer the older she got.
Even with that, she was still content, and if anything she didn’t want to go off to some home with some strangers. She was at peace with where she was and she found blending in with the rest of the children there was her way of staying undiscovered. At the age of fourteen she had taking a liking to one of the nuns in particular: Sister Margret. Between Catholic school and her time spent at the orphanage Emma began helping out in the kitchen. That is where she found her loved for baking.
For a girl living in the great city of Los Angeles Emma rarely veered far off from the area that surrounded the church and orphanage. Her teenage years were filled with the same routine, and that was exactly how she liked it. They had given her an option to attend public high school, but she chose to stay with them, and as the years went on her and Sister Margret grew a special bond for one another. She had made a handful of friends at the orphanage and at school, but no one really that close. She kept herself distant, knowing that most wouldn’t last there long anyway.
It was on the day of her graduation when she found herself lost for the moment. Unsure of the next thing to do. Sister Margret had suggested that she go off to the real world and explore and try new things. There was only one thing she really truly wanted to do. She wanted to bake. She found herself torn, wanting to stay and help with the kids as the nuns had so kindly done throughout the years, but Sister Margret wouldn’t have it. Somehow, Emma had managed to stay longer than the Sister wanted. On her eighteenth birthday, the strangest thing happened. They were getting ready for bed, and Emma had just finished cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. She was heading out back to toss out the trash and when she stepped outside she was able to see. Everything. Perfectly. Without having to turn on the light. It was the strangest thing that had ever happened. Confused, she blinked a few times, and tried rubbing her eyes, but nothing happened. She brushed it off and headed to bed.
The next morning was when trouble occurred. The nuns started opening all of the curtains as they always did to wake the children up, and as the light slowly started flooding in through the windows Emma let out a shriek that frightened everyone in the room. Her eyes were burning, and she felt the tears running down her face. She closed her eyes, which had seemed to help, but the pain returned every time she tried to open them again.
For the entire day she spent in bed. Keeping her eyes closed the entire time. She would occasionally fall asleep which had seemed to help the day fly by. By the time the sun went down, Emma hesitantly opened her eyes, delighted when they seemed to be fine now. Still extremely confused, she headed to the one place she felt at ease: the kitchen. She began baking cupcakes for the children, and a special batch for the nuns. It was around the same time when she was getting ready to take out the trash and she headed out back into the alley and everything was so…clear. But it was dark, and yet, she could see. She stood out there for a while completely amazed. Off in the distance she saw something, something she couldn’t quite make out. But as it got closer, she started to worry, not only because the thing seemed to be gaining speed and coming straight towards her, but also because of the fact that she wasn’t sure if she was seeing straight. She couldn’t figure out what is was, it wasn’t a human, or was it? Terrified she dropped the trash on the floor and ran back inside.
The next day, one of the children had given Emma a pair of broken sunglasses. She took them graciously, and to her surprise, they helped. Her eyes no longer burned in searing pain. It was later that day when someone had showed up and pulled Emma aside. Explaining to her something about being a demigod and that she was in danger. Confused and upset, she reluctantly went with the man to Olympus Falls, all with Sister Margret’s blessing, of course.Sample: *Rips up sample...tapes it back together*The calming sounds of the ocean waves, the warmth of the sun's rays shining brightly down on Camille, as she lays peacefully on a towel on a sandy beach. No worries, no cares. She digs her toes in the warm sand. The breeze is warm and comforting. The next gust of wind, cold, brisk. Camille awakes with a jolt. Catching her balance on the branch, she shakes her head. That was one of the best dreams she has had in months, and ruined, by the cold night air of Georgia. Camille glances down at her watch, hesitant to see how long she was asleep for. Nine O'clock, only three hours, that is not too bad. Camille tries to pull her sleeves from her jacket down, as if that would be of any help.
She peered through her binoculars once more, the faint outlines of buildings she saw earlier seem to be not that far. Camille needed to get inside, or risk spending the night out in the increasingly cold temperatures. "I should have stayed in Florida." Camille said shaking her head. Although, the weather was warmer, which is a positive for human survival. It is not the most pleasant, when you have thousands of rotting corpses sitting out in the hot sun all day. If the walkers didn't kill you, the stench would.
She placed her binoculars back in her knapsack, and sighed. "If I ever find who took my blanket and thermal jacket, I will kill them." Camille said sternly, staring intently into the woods. She will never forget that day, and would never make the mistake of thinking she's alone. Never again. She felt a sense of unease make its way throughout her body. She never spent a night on the ground, or for that matter risked walking around at night, with no light. She paused, thinking of all the nights she had spent safely above ground, high in the trees. She contemplated spending the night in the tree, tolerating the cold, and in the morning, finding better clothes to keep her warm. She shook her head, No, it's too cold tonight.
Camille took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and held her locket in her hand. For a moment, she didn't move. She kissed her locket, swung her knapsack over her shoulders and proceeded to make her way down the tree. As soon as she hit the ground, she quickly hit the tree's trunk with her ax, and proceeded to the road.
When she reached the pavement, she paused, tying her long bright hair into a low side ponytail. She took a quick glance around, and proceeded to make her way hastily down the middle of the street towards the buildings. "I'm just breaking all my rules tonight aren't I?" Camille said with a chuckle. Her smile, quickly disappeared, as she came to a full stop, she crouched behind one of the cars. She listened intently but heard nothing. She cautiously peeked over the hood of the car. In the distance, there was what appeared to be a person, sitting against one of the cars. She was pretty close, a good fifty yards away from the first building. Now it was going to be an obstacle course. "Not in the mood for this." Camille muttered under her breath. She needed to make sure that whatever it was, human or not, was not alive.
Camille slowly crept over to the driver side door, and unhooked her ax. Slowly, she rose, looking through what used to be a window. Suddenly, the body in the car moved and began to reach for her. Camille quickly whacked the walker right between the eyes, and as she released, its head fell right onto the steering wheel, triggering the horn. Camille flinched at the loud sound of the car horn, and knocked the walker off to the side. "Shit." She shook her head hoping to get rid of the ringing in her ears. Camille's heart was pounding, she peaked over the hood once more to see if the body moved. It didn't. She needed to get somewhere safe, and fast, before the walkers that heard the horn, if any, start to show up.
