Umbrakinesis
•Nathan isn't all that good with his Umbrakinesis, the first ability he triggered by accident was shadow traveling but he hardly uses this ability because repeated use or extremely long distance travel causes unconsciousness. Not only does this ability knock him out, he isn't all that good at traveling to places that he cannot see and if he travels to far places he may often pop up in the wrong place and end up lost. So far Nathan finds shadow travel to close distances relatively easier and can be done quite a few times.

•His second and most frequently used umbrakinesis ability is making Umbrakinetic constructs. Although he learned this skill later than he learned shadow travel he is still way better at this than the other. Nathan is able to solidify existing shadows and shape them to make tools, weapons and other things he may need.

Limitations:
•Nathan is unable to create darkness/shadows, thus being limited to manipulating only from already existing sources.

•The lighter the shadows he uses to make constructs the weaker the constructs will be.

• Nathan's constructs cannot be larger than the source of darkness or the object that casts the shadow.


•Having shadow manipulation does not mean Nathan has night vision, he is able to control the dark but he cannot see in it.

Side-Effects:
•overusing his shadow travel leaves him fatigued and may cause unconsciousness

•Nathan naturally has a horrible sense of direction, as a result he often reappears in the wrong places and ends up lost.

•Nathan will often get dark rings around his eyes and a headache if he overuses his shadow manipulation to form solid constructs.

•Nathan finds himself physically unable to sleep in the dark. Don't worry its not due to fear, Being in the dark gives his whole body a rush of energy that makes it physically impossible for him to fall asleep. As a result he constantly has to sleep with the lights on or go Dracula and sleep during the day.

Physical Description: Nathan wears whatever he finds appropriate and feels comfortable in. The only constant things you'll see with him are his pair of rings made from Stygian Iron. He constantly wears both of them on each of his index fingers. He generally let's NO ONE touch his rings. Other than that he also has a simple cross tattoo on the left side of his chest.

Personality:Nathan had always been independent and somehow self-possessed, having quickly learned not to trust other people when his parents left him at an orphanage when he was just an infant.
He has a sharp, defensive wit, an acidic temperament, and a very sarcastic attitude when he chooses. He is very strategic by nature and is easily able to observe his surroundings then ponder and devise plans quickly. In the process he might gain the trust of others in order to manipulate them for his own purposes later.

Due to being a child of Hades most perceive his strategic nature and introverted intuition as evil. He uses that to his advantage because he has a mischievous personality and is rarely intimidated. Despite seeming evil at first appearance Nathan is a trickster at heart, and his "evil plans" often turn out to be nothing more than elaborate jokes. He is unable to understand his craving for chaos and can be quite sentimental at times because he is quite attached to his pair of rings due to the fact that they are all he has from his biological parents.


It is easier for Nathan to express his feelings through music, but has trouble expressing them in normal situations. This often makes people feel like he dislikes them or isn't being honest. He keeps a diary that she uses for inspiration for songs which he makes sure no one is aware of.

Nathan is seen as extremely arrogant and self-centered these traits are by far his biggest weaknesses. Due to receiving a lot of attention from an early age due to his musical career kicking off early Nathan has grown to believe that he is able to get away with treating people wrongly from time to time. He claims not to care about his biological parents because of all the fans he has but in reality he often thinks about them and is still unable to throw away the odd rings they left him.

Childhood: Nathan's story started in New york. At the scene of a horrific car accident involving five cars and a bus, the loud unattended screams of an infant disrupted the silence of the scene. It was unknown what caused the accident but a majority of the cars involved actually had chunks missing from them. Upon investigation none of the information gathered could help lead to a conclusion. The strangest thing however, was the fact that a baby had survived such a catastrophic accident.

Nathan hadn't obtained so much as a scar from the accident and was found in his parents car with a pair of rings. They immediately moved him to a nearby orphanage because the car he was found in was empty. Life in the orphanage wasn't too bad, well apart from sharing everything with more than 6 dozen children. It wasn't any different from living at school, certain kids got along, certain kids didn't. There were social groups and of course a fair amount of bullying and roughhousing.

If asked, Nathan would deny it but even he occasionally fell victim to bullying. With no memory of his parents all Nathan had was the weird pair of rings that were found in the car with him. Eventually at the age of 9 he was adopted by what appeared to be a caring family.


Adolescence: Arthur and Natalie had chosen Nathan specifically because he didn't stand out too much, in fact it was nearly impossible to tell he was adopted. That was sort of what the Quill family was looking for in the first place. Having a new family didn't erase the feeling of wanting to know his real parents so Nathan constantly wore the odd rings on both his index fingers. By the time Nathan was 13 he had formed a strong bond with his adoptive mother, Arthur however wasn't clicking with his adoptive son and Nathan was more than fine with that.

occasionally Nathan and his adoptive mother would joke around with musical instruments in the play room for the heck of it. They made loads of unnecessary noise which sort of annoyed Arthur but allowed Nathan to relax and brought them closer together. However what really unhinged Arthur was being called to the school Nathan attended and hearing teachers complain about his adoptive son's lack of discipline and pranks. By the time he turned 14 Nathan was decent at playing drums and was a natural at playing the base guitar or an acoustic guitar.

One day his teachers grew sick of Nathan's behavior and decided to suspend him for two weeks. As you can imagine this drove Arthur crazy. Nathan hardly cared about all that jazz and used his time off from school to write out a few songs. By the time he turned 15 Nathan had gained a fair amount of recognition in the new york music scene and was locally famous.

Finally when Nathan had his first huge gig his powers started acting up. Now Nathan had never experienced stage fright and he wasn't afraid of crowds at all but he had never performed in front of a crowd that big. It was too late to cancel because the stage was set and the enormous crowd had been chanting and demanding a show. Nathan was beyond nervous and when the lights were switched off for dramatic effect Nathan accidentally shadow traveled back to his house. This ability popped up at the age of 15 ,Of course bailing out on one of the biggest events in New york gave Nathan a bad reputation and people started listening to his music less.

Luckily mr Backster stepped in just In time to change Nathan's career around completely. Because Nathan had gained a bad reputation for not performing at the Huge event and completely disappearing, Mr Backster was able to take that and turn it into a bad boy persona that got Nathan attention and got his music even more recognition than ever. Sure Nathan didn't like his fans thinking he was some wana be badass that could ditch at any time but for the sake of getting his music heard and maintain a steady income Nathan played along.

Just 1 week after his first Shadow travel incident Nathan had started making more money than ever thanks to his manager. Despite all the money he made he still couldn't get over what accidentally happened 1 week ago. He grew more and more anxious each time he thought about it, it felt as though a shadow had literally jumped up and kidnapped him for a few seconds then dropped him off at home. He tried to hide this but his ability acted up yet again while having a heated discussion with his adoptive father, Nathan ended up shadow traveling up to his room again. Recruiters were able to get to Nathan mere minutes before a chimera. After fending the mythical beast off in front of Nathan and his family they had no choice but to let the recruiters take him for his own safety.

Nathan couldn't help but despise his shadow travel ability, just two weeks after it first activated Nathan ended up in a place called Corinth going to a high school for people like him. Not to mention being in this new town messed with his music career.

Adulthood:By the time he turned 19 Nathan had graduated from Olympus falls high school and Things had taken a turn for the better. Firstly he could control his shadow travel ability far better and he had discovered a new ability which the high school helped him control as well. It took time but with enough work His music career was also somewhat back on track , eventually he had even managed to get signed by Vinyl Answer. Of course that had to be a part time thing because Nathan had to finish university before anything else.

Sample:Nathan paced back in forth slowly in his locked dorm room with his phone held up to his ear, the call was quite important. "Did you get it?" Nathan spoke as calmly as possible but impatience could be heard in his tone. He just hoped the person on the other side of the line couldn't pick it up. Seconds after his question a smile made its way upon Nathan's face."Good, is the manitour still tranquilized?" then another moment of silence fell upon the room as Nathan waited for a second answer.

Nathan's mischievous nature had made it impossible for him to resist messing with the newbies. It was valentines day and the dress code was red, He couldn't resist letting a manitour run loose through the university on the one day where nearly everyone would be in red. Now he wasn't exactly sure that the color red affected manitours like it affected bulls but it was worth a shot. He had gone through the trouble of paying someone to capture and tranquilize a manitour, then organized a delivery truck to move it closer to the campus. " whoa! Don't come in through the gate! Cerberus wouldn't let you in without checking your cargo... I don't care if its waking up, just park near the west wall and I'll handle the rest."

Nathan knew that If the beast awoke before he got it in the school his whole prank would go down the toilet. He closed his phone and quickly moved to the window where he could clearly see the west wall, to his disappointment there was no truck. Nathan began nervously tapping his fingers against the window, it took a minute or two but finally the truck appeared . Without wasting time Nathan closed his eyes and in mere moments he disappeared and reappeared inside of the truck. Although it was on the floor Nathan could tell that the manitour was far bigger than he expected, infact had it been standing it would easily tower over him. It immediately became obvious that shadow traveling with the monster would really take it out of Nathan.

To throw salt on the wound Nathan tied a ribbon on one of its horns before grabbing the beast and attempting to shadow travel with it. If the manitour had been consciously struggling, shadow traveling with this thing would have been impossible. It took Nathan 2 minutes or so to finally muster up enough strength and concentration to shadow travel with it into one of the janitor's closets. This obviously left Nathan with a horrific headache as he tried to walk out of the closet as casually as possible, obviously Nathan closed the door behind him to keep the sleeping manitour in there. He barely held back a chuckle as he watched everyone around him in their fancy red outfits. It was only a matter of time before the beast he had stashed in the closet woke up and made the valentines ball more interesting. Before you call Nathan evil he hadn't accounted for any casualties, he knew a manitour in a school full of demigods and demititans couldn't exactly kill anyone. Or so he hoped.
