The Big Bad Family Trees
The Big Bad Family Trees
In the last hundred years, Poseidon and Zeus’ descendants, the Reyes and the Leclaires respectively, have essentially taken over Corinth and the island it belongs to unbeknownst to the humans that live there. The Reyes and Leclaires are the most powerful families in the city and are headed by descendants of the gods themselves, while most mere humans remain completely unaware. These families keep their lines as pure as they can for the sake of keeping the power within their control. Those born without godly attributes are sometimes shunned and looked down on as failures. Those born with more power than most are highly valued and rare.
Bringing humans into a god's bloodline dilutes the bloodline's power and makes it that much less likely for someone's child to have power, which is why the Leclaire and Reyes families care so much about keeping their bloodlines pure. God blood isn't truly something that connects them as relations on a human level, so children of Zeus will often marry other children of Zeus. If they marry a demigod of another bloodline, the child that results will only have access to powers from one bloodline, but there will be a fifty-fifty chance for them to receive either set.
Reyes and Leclaire are constantly warring for more and more influence within the city. There are those who join in with them, but there are many who prefer to ignore what’s going on, or who are very interested in using the demigod’s competition against them. The opportunists steal from each side and run an underground black market, selling off powerful magical artifacts at a steep price. The children of Prometheus and Hermes have joined their efforts and decided to put aside their differences temporarily to work to weaken the hold of the two ruling factions, while simultaneously gaining a nice profit on the side.
Job Tidbits
Strengthening Zeus’ and Poseidon’s enemies can only be a good thing for those who’ve been routinely shoved aside and exploited by the powerful families. Particularly the children of the Titans who’ve been so viciously suppressed by the demigods in general. They’re relegated to the poorest parts of the city, as that’s the only place they’re allowed and accepted. They can rarely get paying jobs, and when they do they’re overworked for far too little compensation. However their community is strong, for the most part, and they look out for each other.
Of Hera's children, there are a number who can identify anyone's Titan or Godly parentage. They are often sent out as recruiters into the city and are also likely to be a part of the special Police Force that deals with anything supernatural within Corinth. A few select humans are very aware of just who runs the city and they also know what Olympus Falls truly is. They've been tasked to work with demigods to help protect the city from supernatural threats. Some feel the the godlings have far too much power and shouldn't be allowed to have any say in crimes that involve other demigods, however they have little influence.
Student Punishment
If god or titan children are not registered to the school within a month of their manifestation. They will face consequences. The Demi-Titans will have their powers stripped from them completely and be on probation for the entire year, while the demigods will get detention for their first two weeks and are required to give 100 hrs of their time to community service before the school year ends.
Hecate invented a magic brand, at the order of Zeus himself, that sucks away the demititans' powers (and far more rarely the demigods' powers). The brand weakens the "marked one" almost beyond what they even would be as a regular human. The brand's symbol is a very clearly cut Omega, the last letter in the Greek Alphabet. For the worst offenders, their faces are branded for everyone to see. If the demi-titans have behaved, they are allowed to regain their powers at the end of the probationary year. If not, those powers are removed permanently.
Also note: All, except demigods, HAVE to be checked by security before entering the premises of Olympus Falls every time they visit or return to campus.
