Time sometimes had a way of running together. At least it was running though. Row felt like she should probably be training more lately, but she wasn't. Instead, she was going to eat at this cute little diner she'd discovered. She was alone though, so that dampened the spirit of the spontaneous moment a little bit. She sighed and smiled though before sitting in a booth and ordering a burger and fries from the waitress. It would be a little while before her order arrived. In the meantime, she looked around the diner. There weren't too many people around unfortunately. And none who looked like they might want to talk to her. Of course she may have missed somebody, but she really didn't know. What she hoped was that nobody would see her looking at the little kid in the corner on the diner's counter. It was always sad when a child was a ghost. She didn't know why he died either. It wasn't like the ghosts LOOKED dead. Sometimes she mistook them for living in fact. That was if she didn't see the energy surrounding them. It was difficult to see, but someone who was dead gave off a different vibe.
"Sure as hell hope the little guy didn't die of food poisoning. That'd be a really bad thing to discover just before my meal." She stuck out her tongue briefly, crossing her legs under the booth's smooth clean tabletop.

Selina needed some good cheap food and right now, the school was the last place she wanted to be. Luckily, she’d recently found the Pin-up Girls Diner where she could practically eat all she wanted for a reasonable price. Selina loved their burgers with jalapenos because the food was actually spicy. She walked in the door and inhaled the lovely smell of all things fried and delicious, before glancing around and looking for a table. There was a gorgeous woman alone in a booth, so Selina slid into the booth across from her, her ribs protesting the movement but she ignored them. Selina figured she’d get an immediate rejection if she wasn’t wanted, so she didn’t really have anything to lose.
She just hoped the other woman wasn’t a student from Olympus Falls. “What’s to discover before a meal?” She asked, only having briefly caught onto the woman’s last words. She smiled warmly at the girl and waved her hand to indicate the diner, “Hope you don’t mind, the rest of the place is packed,” she teased. The empty tables around them a direct contradiction to her words. “Can’t say I’m cursing my luck though, having lunch with a beautiful woman is always far more pleasant than eating alone,” she added playfully.
Selina grinned as she held out her hand for the girl to shake, “I’m Selina by the way,” she offered easily.
When a pretty girl slid into her booth, she could scarcely believe it. Why did it seem like everyone she met in this city was like an 8 at least? The girl was asking a question about her statement though. Row arched an eyebrow. Hmmmm somehow 'I see ghosts and there's a seven year old on the diner counter' didn't seem like it'd be a winner. Go figure.
"Ummm....not really important...the ghost on the counter probably died of a car accident or broken dishes or something, totally not food poisoning...." Then she wrinkled her nose.
"Shit. I did not mean to actually say that. Memo to self: figure out what is actually being said in my head and define what 'aloud' really is." She hit her forehead gently with the palm of her hand. Now the pretty girl would probably think she was nuts and go sit at another of the many tables. The brand on the girl's cheek did not make any difference in the least to how disappointing that last thought had unexpectedly been.
"And....despite that craziness I am just cursing my lack of a filter, not the fact a pretty girl sat down in my booth. I'm Row." She smiled somewhat sheepishly.

Selina laughed gently as the woman mentioned a ghost on the counter, “Is that who had captured your interest? Should I be offended that a dead person is more worthy of your notice?” She teased lightly.
Selina grinned as the woman went on and shook her head, “Hmm, that’s always a good thing to remember in general, although… you shouldn’t feel too bad. I often tend to speak when I shouldn’t as well,” she offered with a playful smirk. “It’s an unfortunate habit, but one I can’t quite seem to rid myself of. Besides, talking of ghosts seems far more reasonable than most other things I hear around here,” she added. Greek gods certainly weren’t her cup of tea and ghosts seemed far more innocent.
Selina then nodded to Row as she introduced herself, “Lovely name. And forgive me for my curiosity, but have you always been able to see ghosts?” She asked sincerely interested. Hades was far further down on her shitlist than most other gods, so if the girl was connected to him, Selina wouldn’t mind as much. Besides, there was also a chance this girl had no connection to Olympus Falls… a very small chance considering where they lived, but still a chance nonetheless.
Row realized the brand meant this girl was a demi-titan and she therefore knew about the existence of demigods and such. The minute Row realized that, she kind of relaxed. Especially since she heard the joke about the ghost.
"Naw it's just a kid. Cute, but nothing like the stripper ghost I saw once. Now that made me thankful to be able to see ghosts, lemme tell you." She smirked. So talking to ghosts was reasonable according to this girl. Well she supposed in Olympus Falls there was a tendency. She smiled when she was asked if she had always been able to see ghosts. Row shook her head.
"No it started when I was thirteen. My brother died, and then I discovered my mum's defense of 'he was built like a Greek god' wasn't quite a figure of speech." She shrugged.
"Also discovered I didn't really have to say good-bye to my brother, which was nice. How'd it happen for you? Y'know before they put..." She pointed at her own cheek. Row didn't mince words. If she had a question she went ahead and asked it. She would put forward the same courtesy to whoever she was talking with.

Selina laughed at the mention of a stripping ghost, “I can only imagine… I want to see ghosts too now,” she admitted with a wicked grin. Damn, wouldn’t that be lovely? Then again… she could see a definite downside to it too… having to see children in restaurants who are no longer living would be hard. Selina stayed far far away from children if she could help it, as she didn’t care for the little creatures, but there was a side of her that was protective of those who were more defenseless than she was. So her stifled empathetic nature would be even more of a hindrance than it already was.
Selina let out a slightly bitter laugh, “I see,” she returned, but she didn’t comment on Row’s heritage. Of course, she could never get away from the damn gods even when she left campus. Ah well, Row seemed reasonable enough… so far. Besides, the dead had never held much fear for Selina. Death was something that would come sooner or later… the fact she’d longed for it multiple times probably had something to do with how casually she currently regarded the matter.
Selina then glanced up at Row’s question, wondering how much, if any of it, she wanted to tell. “A boy insulted my family, so I put him in his proper place… and discovered he couldn’t lay a hit on me. A beasty then came and attacked when I was off on suspension and the rest is history,” she offered simply.
For once, mentioning her dead brother hadn't brought forth a 'I'm so sorry to hear it'. The absence of it made Row wonder about Selina. Just idly. Was she dead inside or was it just something that escaped her notice? Was she just ignoring it so it wouldn't get awkward? Row wasn't sure. The bitter sort of laugh hadn't escaped her either. It didn't really surprise her. It wasn't new that demi-titans didn't get along with demi-gods, but she didn't think they judged quite so quickly. Row sighed, a little taken aback by the fairly obvious prejudice on both sides. She heard the story and nodded.
"Understandable. I'm somewhat protective of my family too. Ever since I was thirteen, I'm always nervous staying at the school when literally anything could happen to them. They have the risks of the human world like car accidents, and then the monsters could go after them, or someone who didn't like me or my god heritage could go after them." Her smile disappeared into a line as she thought about that. There was an impending war, and demi-titans were obviously involved. She was always unsure of whether her human parents would be hurt because of it.

Selina had picked up on the dead brother but she’d figured the girl probably wouldn’t want to focus on something like that right before eating… Selina also wasn’t the best one for offering comfort. Selina had a very limited amount of empathy that she could afford to spare and she rarely spent it on strangers, particularly not godlings. There had been a rare few instances where she genuinely regretted how she’d treated a demigod, and Selina was starting to try and be less defensive and judgmental, but it was difficult, particularly at a place like Olympus Falls.
Selina then nodded her agreement, “I know what you mean. I sometimes worry about my mother… but then she’s always handled herself pretty well,” she added with a slightly fond smile. “She was never really one to sit back and let others protect her either, so I’m kind of out of luck,” Selina offered wryly. Selina knew something had to break soon, and if there was a war… she knew she certainly wouldn’t be siding with the gods. Selina wasn’t yet sure if she’d actually fight for the Titans or not, as Prometheus’ descendants wouldn’t fare much better than they did now should the Titans come back into power.
"Well my mum and dad are just kind of the average suburbia parents. So I'm always understandably a bit worried. And it's not like I have much to help them out. I've only got ghost communication and invisibility. And that's a far from powerful combination. The only times I'm good is when I've consulted one of the heroes in Elysian Fields or whatever." She shrugged.
"Most times they don't want to give me tips though. One of the new arrivals introduced them to poker and now they're all just really bad betters. Especially Achilles. Apparently his heel isn't the only weakness he has. Can't keep a poker face to save his life." Row shook her head. Then her burger and fries arrived and she grinned.
"Could I get a pepsi too? Or if you don't have Pepsi, Mountain Dew if you have it?" The waitress nodded and walked off and Row popped a fry into her mouth after showering the pile with salt and pepper.

Selina nodded to Row in understanding. Her mother was... a far cry from average suburbia. Selina knew Kat had striven to keep her own childhood as normal as she possibly could, but there were things not even Kat could hide from her daughter. Selina wondered how much her mother regretted having a child... as she was more than aware that she hadn't been planned. "My own abilities aren't worth much in terms of power either, however being able to talk to heroes seems fascinating," she offered honestly.
When Row mentioned the old heroes betting, Selina chuckled a bit, "I'd love to say I beat Achilles... in poker," she added with a playful smirk. As Row ordered her drink, Selina pulled the waitress back so she could order her own burger and fries. Selina was starving and she could eat so much more... but that was a good place to start, she figured. "So you have to deal with ghosts all the time? Even in bed?" Selina asked with a salacious grin.
"Nope. Ghosts only show up near their grave or near where they died. So unless someone dies in my bed of supreme pleasure, I have no ghosts trapped there." She smirked, taking a bite of her burger.
"Although I suppose people who died in their sleep or of heart attacks could be possible too, but let's face it that isn't nearly as pretty a picture."

Selina laughed and nodded, "That would be an interesting ghost though... I wonder if they'd always be in the throes of passion if they died amidst such pleasure," she teased. "Seems like a great way to spend the afterlife if you ask me," she added thoughtfully, as if she were serious.
"And that makes sense," she offered as Row mentioned people dying of heart attacks. "A haunted bed though... sounds like the beginning of a weird romance novel..." Selina thought aloud before thanking the waitress as she brought out food and Row's drink.
"I'm just glad the food here is better than the school's," she said wryly before she took a bite of her burger.
"Naw it's not like they're frozen in the way they died. They're just like stuck there. It's like if you were stuck waiting for the bus and the bus never came. Kinda." She shrugged.
"They're like every other person, but the river Styx hasn't called them yet so they're just waiting." She heard the words about the food and nodded.
"Yeah they need to get hit by a decent cookbook I think. If they asked, I'd selflessly volunteer to do so too. No charge."

Selina laughed a bit as Row explained, "Damn, because dying mid-orgasm and spending the rest of my afterlife in sexual ecstasy sounds pretty damn magnificent. I'd never even need to cross the River Styx."
"Right? My mom can cook better... and she doesn't cook," she added wryly. To give her mother credit, Katerina had attempted to make dinner a few times... but Selina was more than happy to take over after the burnt food made the smoke alarm go off.
"I dunno. Aim for being a legendary hero and honestly Elysian Fields is pretty sweet." She shrugged.
"Food's a hell of a lot better than the cafeteria too. Even if Hades just ends up growing a ton of pomegranates, the pomegranates are both sweet AND free." Row grinned.
"Plus you aim for legendary hero and chances are you're not gonna have the brand on your face. Which must seriously suck." She sighed and shook her head. A lot of the demigods harboured resentment for the demititans, but Row had never really understood it. To her it just seemed like....godly racism or something. Or like the French and the English having an unspoken 'grrrrr I hate you' war.
