Asa Archibald King
Face Claim: Sam Claflin
————————————————
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Orientation: Demisexual
Position: Makeup Artist at The Masquerade
Godly Inheritance: Demi-Titan, child of Themis
Power(s): Scrying
Asa has the power to touch a personal item of a deceased person and witness how they died. His is a form of past-scrying and is incredibly intense for him as a viewer. When experiencing a vision he sees through the eyes of the victim, and feels their body as his own. None of his visions have lasted longer than five minutes, and some are much shorter. The length of the vision typically depends on how personal the object is to its owner. Similarly, the less personal an object the harder it is for Asa to instigate his sight.
When looking through the eyes of a victim, he becomes that person for a short time. He is not aware of their thoughts nor their conscious mind, but he does have access to their senses. All that they see, hear, smell and touch are available to him, but this can act as a double-edged sword. He is in tune with every affect on the victim's body, and as such experiences their death with them. The consequences of their death do not follow him back to his own body, but while in the victim's body, he experiences the same pain they feel as they die.
Limitations:
- He can only scry dead people, it wont work on any living person
- In order to scry someone he needs to be in physical contact with with a personal item of theirs. he more personal the item, the easier it is to make the connection
- Typically it takes 30 seconds with a very personal item, and a minute or longer as the personal connection with the item weakens.
- The more personal the item the longer his visions will last, but the longest he's ever experienced is five minutes.
- He can only scry with a single item once. If he wishes to witness a death again he needs another item, and regardless of he connection, the more times he views a death the harder it becomes and the more taxing it
becomes on his body.
- To be eligible as scry material an object must have been owned by and cared for by the individual. A sentimental attraction is absolutely necessary.
- He cannot enter the mind of those he scrys, only their senses. As such the only information he can gain from a viewing is that which he knows himself.
Side-Effects:
- After a scry Asa's eyes are typically bloodshot and sore, since his eyes are the main connection between himself and the victim. After very long scrys he has been known to leak a bit of blood. If he continues using his power it may eventually ruin his eyesight completely
- After experiencing long scrys it isn't unusual for him to faint as well
- His body is typically sore for a few days after each scry, usually centered around the area where the victim received their killing wound
Height: 6'1"
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Bright blue
Physical Description:
Asa has always loved tattoos and will stop by the tattoo parlor whenever he has the opportunity. On his left hand he has a letter on each finger, L I F E, and on his right he has D E A T H. Along his spine is a tattoo of the moon phases. On the inside of his left wrist is a crown tattoo to symbolize his family.
The pinkie on his left hand was broken in his youth and not set properly, and is now permanently crooked, though still usable.
He loves long black jackets, especially with buttons. He's also a fan of loose shirts, typically the type that show off a V section of his chest. Boots are also cool. He worships boots. Black boots. With buckles.
Personality:
Asa is proudly Shameless in all things. He is rarely inhibited by his doubts and will commit any act (sultry or otherwise) with the utmost confidence, and without realizing that it may offend or scar the people around him. In this way he's happy to do close to anything requested of him no matter where he is or what the situation is like. He'd whip off his shirt at a Sunday mass if someone paid him to do it. Because he has little care for himself or what he does, Asa follows the whims of others easily, so long as it doesn't interfere with his own beliefs or his family.
He is Passionate and intense in everything he does. He'll pursue his passions to the ends of the earth, no matter where it takes him. He'll channel his interest and energy into anything that captures his attention. This almost always takes something out of his pocket, which doesn't seem like much of an issue at the time, but becomes one later. Asa tends to pick up new hobbies every few weeks, and few rarely stick with him. So he is quite loose with money, and really should be watched. To date he has tried book-binding, sculpting, ceramics, prostitution, photography, knitting and croquet. Despite his frivolous interest with these things, once he has an actual passion he'll stick with it until it's perfect.
Asa has always seemed to naturally excel at a lot of things, most of them sports. Arts and crafts however, he's never had a large talent for. Unfortunately when he finds something he's not good at, he'll follow it with an absolutely single-minded focus until he can do it blindfolded. That's his perfectionist streak. He isn't patient or composed, he'll say what he feels and do what he likes, when he wants to. He can be quick to snap at someone, but equally quick to apologize and offer a smile.
His power has made him cautious about becoming too close to people. Since even accidentally touching personal items can set off a vision he tries his best to keep his hands to himself, and avoid second-hand stores. Unfortunately he has a short attention span and the desire to put his hands on almost everything he sees, person or item, which makes his lack of self-control a dangerous pain.

Parents: Gideon King (father, alive), Coco Williams (mother, dead)
Siblings: Bohemian King (brother, 20) Beckett King (18)
Worthy Mentions: Pets? Any important people?
Childhood:
Asa was the first born child to Gideon and Coco, a happy, yet poor couple. His mother worked as a stripper in the club district while his father ran his own plumbing service. Considering their lack of wealth the importance of 'protect the family' was drilled in to Asa every day. Because of this, when he was three and his parents informed him that he was to have another sibling, Asa was thrilled. Of course, this was mainly because his young mind couldn't grasp the troubles another child would bring.
Bohemian, or Bo for short, Asa's younger brother was born when he was four. Protective from the start Asa loved piling attention onto his baby brother, and would often give him the best parts of his own meager dinner. When his sister Beckett was born, Asa was six and once again thrilled. This was also the year he began going to public school. His parents had been saving money for the better part of a year to afford a brand new uniform for him and he was so excited to be able to fit in with normal kids for once.
Unfortunately with three kids the King family struggled. Asa dropped out of school when he was nine of his own free will. He knew Bo would need the opportunity to go to school the next year, and as the oldest child in the house he had to help out. At this point Asa was popular. He loved people and enjoyed making friends, and so people loved him too. He began handing out pamphlets and brochures every day for a small income, but the job filled him with pride to be helping out.
Adolescence:
When Asa was twelve his mother died. Bo was still in school and Beckett was getting ready to start. Asa had moved up in his job and was a young door-to-door salesman, his friendly personality helping with the task. His mother's death tore Asa apart, but not as badly as his father. Gideon sopped taking what few jobs were left to him and his company. Asa began slowly selling off their possessions one by one, determined to give his younger siblings the education he couldn't have. Despite his efforts Bo dropped out of school when he was ten and Beckett tried to as well; but her brothers insisted they stay.
When he was fifteen Asa's powers appeared for the first time. Beckett hadn't arrived home on time from school on time and when he'd gone to find her, he'd only found her backpack out the front of her school. His high-strung emotions were what probably triggered his powers when he touched the backpack and suddenly his vision blacked out and instead of the street he was looking through Beckett's eyes. Luckily he was able to recognized the alley she'd been taken to, though he didn't recognize the men in her vision. His sight barely lasted five seconds, but it was enough. He wasn't confident in trusting a retarded 'vision' of sorts, but didn't feel he had many options at the time.
Asa rushed to the alley to discover his little sister pinned against the wall by two grown men. Drive by fury he lashed out at them. To this day he can't exactly recall the outcome of the fight, but he did know both men suffered injuries. He did too, and would have gone to the hospital if he could actually afford it. That scuffle is the reason for the crooked pinkie on his left hand, which was broken and not set properly afterwards.
A few days later some representatives from Olympus Falls appeared at their decrepit door and told him about his lineage. Ignoring the fact that he had Titan blood, Asa was heartbroken over the fact that he wasn't fully related to his siblings like he'd believed. Not only that, he was going to be forced to leave them behind. He had hoped that the academy that was forcing him away from his family would at least help take care of them, but he discovered pretty quickly that his parent was a Titan, and as such he was even less of a member of society than he'd ever been.
He was able to barter a week with his family to say goodbye before he had to report to the academy, and before state representatives appeared to take his two younger siblings away. He was absolutely not going to let his siblings be taken away from him, even if it meant they had to hide like criminals until he was legally able to take care of them. Beckett was finally forced to drop out of school. Asa and Bo used the underground market to sell any of their possessions that weren't absolutely necessary, though the house would have taken too long to get rid of it and they had to leave it empty. It was too risky to leave any trace o their existence.
With the money they had Asa rented his brother and sister a crummy apartment downtown before disappearing. He decided that having any more contact with his siblings was going to be too dangerous for them, and so as soon as they were settled he disappeared to Olympus Falls.
Going to school as a Titan outcast was tough, though apparently as a child of Themis he was treated better than some others he saw. It was made more difficult by the fact that he hadn't been able t access his powers again since the incident with Beckett. If nothing else his loving personally made it easy for Asa to make friends amongst the other titan children because he was so outgoing and charming. He never forgot about his siblings though, and whenever he was paid he would send as much as he could spare to them.
Two years passed and Asa was seventeen before his powers appeared again. An incident had occurred with a minotaur on the outskirts of school and a student had gone missing. Despite her disappearance life went on as normal. The girl that disappeared had been a friend of Asa's, and once she was presumed dead he was the one that volunteered to clean out her locker. Considering she was a demi-titan, not many people wanted to be associated with her. As soon as he touched her notebook the vision started. He was in the girl's body as the minotaur bared down on her, and he was acutely aware as it's horns tore her apart.
As soon as the Sight was over he fainted and his eyes began bleeding. He was moved to the medical wing, but as soon as he awoke he revealed what he had seen, and a search was launched in the part of the forest he described. They found the girl's body almost immediately, and Asa discovered his true power, which had changed as he matured.
Asa graduated when he was eighteen, purposefully at the bottom of his class. His academic grades were high but he was flunking combat classes and all uses of his power, since he avoided both of them whenever possible. He had no desire to experience the death of anyone else again, or be used by people that were keeping him away from his family. He'd heard little from either Bo or Beckett for the past year, though apparently Bo had found himself a job, which was really good.
Adulthood:
As soon as Asa graduated he left and returned to his family, taking legal custody of them. It was difficult considering his two siblings had disappeared for years without a trace, but eventually they made it with the help of the money he'd been saving during his schooling. They upgraded from their shitty apartment; still downtown, but with enough space for all of them. Asa set about looking for a more permanent job, and his art skills landed him a trial run at the club The Masquerade. He was actually a little curious to try the dancing gig himself, but definitely excelled more at makeup. Unfortunately he was better at helping the dancers out of their clothes rather than into them, so that aspect of his job didn't last long. However he is currently working as a makeup artist there and using the money to put both Beckett and Bo into night school.
