Vasilisa Frost
Face Claim: Saoirse Ronan
————————————————
Age: 20.
Gender: Female.
Orientation: Heterosexual.
Position: University Student.
Godly Inheritance: Daughter of Poseidon.
Power(s): Cryokinesis.
Vasilisa’s power works best at the coolest conditions, which for her would usually be nighttime until dawn in a normal day. As opposed to what people who knew about her power initially believe, she can’t conjure ice (maybe not yet), she can only control its elements. Being close to a water source would work best for her. Vas doesn’t need to touch the liquid to freeze it, being a direct child of Poseidon allows her to sense when liquid is near and she can use her powers then.
Limitations:
• Vasilisa has very limited to almost no use of her powers when in a hot environment or weather.
• She can’t just conjure ice. She needs liquid water or moisture around for her power to work.
• The longer she uses her powers, the faster it drains her as opposed to using it in intervals. The same goes for the amount of moisture or water she freezes; the bigger the body of water she attempts to control at once, the easier she’ll fatigue.
Side-Effects:
• Vasilisa gets dreadful migraines when she’s iced something a little too much or too long. It’s a warning that she’s reaching the threshold of what she’s capable of and if she didn’t stop, would usually end with her fainting and getting a fever, or worse…
• Fever would occur upon extreme use of power (as mentioned above). Medications won’t affect her; instead she just needs a day or two of rest without using her powers.
• Death in the longest run.
Height: 5’6”
Hair Color: Sandy.
Eye Color: Light blue – almost icy blue actually.
Physical Description:
Standing at 5’6”, fair-skinned, with layered sandy-blonde hair falling just beyond her shoulders, and a lean body built, Vasilisa had inherited most of her facial features from her mother except for the eye color. She would usually put her hair up in a messy bun, just as long as it’s not always in her face. She wears no make up almost all the time and prefers comfort to style. Vas has no tattoos or piercings, and she has no intentions of getting any.
Personality:
Vasilisa is an unpredictable girl. One minute she’s quiet and would prefer to be alone, but there will be times when she wants to be with other people, her friends and her family. She isn’t exactly a social butterfly, so you wouldn’t find her starting conversations; especially with people she just met. Until she’s warmed up to you and your personality Vas will most likely try to avoid you thinking that you don’t want anything to do with her or that you find her annoying or destructive (if you knew about her cryokinesis and/or thinks she’s a freak). There will also be times when her temper is shorter than normal and she would just cry out of frustration or accidentally freeze things around her before she exhausts herself and her power. Vasilisa is not at all as she initially appears, especially when it comes to voicing out how she truly feels.
On a normal day, one would find her most often in her bedroom reading a good book listening to classical music, or taking Avalon out for walks. She loved ice-skating every time she got the chance to visit a rink or travel north and she enjoyed swimming at the beach rather than a pool, showing clear distaste with the chlorine in the water. During a storm, Vasilisa would often be agitated and with mood swings and her powers could increase due to the high amount of liquid water in the area, but it can also be just as destructive both to her and those around her if not carefully controlled.
Strengths:
• Fast learner.
• Agile.
• Level-headed at times.
• Independent.
Weaknesses:
• Fire and extremely high temperatures.
• She may be hardheaded.
• She has a fear of heights.
• Vasilisa forgives but doesn’t forget and won’t trust you after the initial betrayal.
Fatal Flaw(s): Unknown to Vasilisa – Selfless, especially to those who matter to her

• Trustworthy and loyal people
• Books/the library
• Cold (mornings, days, weather, ice cream…)
• Pizza and lasagna
• Classical music
• Traveling (especially to cold places)
• Color white and/or blue
• Her Northern Inuit dog, Avalon (of course!)

Worthy Mentions: A gray Northern Inuit named Avalon.
Childhood:
Vasilisa was born one midnight during the peak of the summer season to Victoria Haynes in their family beach house along the coast of California. Her mother raised her on her own until she was three years old when she married Henrik Frost, and they took his family name since. Henrik had been a good stepfather to Vas, and he would usually take the mother and child for walks on the beach, they picked seashells, built sand castles, and took Vasilisa swimming even in the colder seasons. Though she knew that he wasn’t her biological father, Vas adored and loved Henrik, much to her mother’s happiness.
When she was six years old, Vasilisa attended a local school and had the chance to encounter different people. She exceled in her subjects and enjoyed the company of children her age since she’s an only child. One afternoon on her second year of attending school, Vas returned home almost in tears and complained how there was a scary man with scaly skin following her and her friends at school today. Her mother, aware of her parentage and the dangers that come with it, went to visit the school to consult with the principal about what Vasilisa saw. With only a promise of tighter security, Victoria could do nothing else but trust the mortal’s words despite knowing it wasn’t enough against whatever was watching her daughter. Thankfully, no incidents happened after.
Three years later, the Frost family decided to take a year long vacation up north and visit Henrik’s side of the family in Seattle. Vasilisa was more than willing to come with, excited for the change in scenery and weather conditions. While in Seattle, she was home schooled by her adoptive grandparents to keep her up with her academics while she felt reluctant to attend a local school during her stay. Her first experience on an ice rink was during Christmas Eve, and Vas skated well for a first timer. It was also the first time when she got to experience snowfall, which she adored and instantly fell in love with. After the year was over she was heartbroken to return to sunny California. Since her initial encounter with snow up in Seattle, Vasilisa had been more excited for the return trip, which happened after two years when she was just about to turn fourteen. They came up on the winter season to visit while they were all on Christmas vacation. During an afternoon in the rink where she first skated, Vas tried to catch the snowflakes and grew curious when she noticed that they didn’t melt in the palm of her hands and that despite the lack of breeze in the air the flakes seemed to dance on their own. Thinking nothing much of it, she let the snow drop on the ground before continuing with her leisure.
Adolescence:
Vasilisa had been more inclined with cooler weathers and conditions since then. She had always preferred tons of ice with her drinks, the air conditioning units on, and cooler showers first thing in the morning. A few weeks after her fourteenth birthday, the paranoid feeling of someone watching and following her every time she’s outside the house returned. While on a trip down one of the popular beaches of California with her parents during the summer, one of the tourists approached Vas while she picked seashells on the shore. The man, as she described to her mother, was alone with graying hair and hard facial features. Despite that, he wore a smile. He wore colorful tropical clothes like the other tourists and a pair of sunglasses. Vasilisa remembered him asking her if she liked the beach, and she answered affirmatively with a grin. The man beamed back at her and told her stories about the ocean and voyagers and the creatures in the sea. In the midst of it, Vasilisa had asked why he knew that much and the man answered with, ”I rule them all,” with a wink before he asked her to return to her mother as she was getting worried. She never saw the man again since.
A month after, Vasilisa was directly attacked by a monster sent by one of the Titans while she did her homework at their veranda overlooking the open sea. She screamed for her mother and by the time Victoria and Henrik walked out the door, Vas was alone but unconscious on the veranda, soaked with seawater and was sporting a high fever. After she was brought to her bedroom, Henrik grew alarmed with Victoria’s pacing in the living room, all the while muttering about, dangers he warned me about. Before clarifications could be made, there had been knocks on the door and people who introduced them as members of the Special Police Forces. Brief introductions with what they do and where they were from were made before the Vasilisa’s parents were told about how Vas had been garnering unwanted attention for months now as they had observed and prevented. As one of the demigods sired by Poseidon, they explained how the war with the Titans started and how it could affect the children of the gods, and Vasilisa personally. Eager to keep Vas safe, the leader of the team proposed that Vasilisa be taken to a school built by the gods for their children and the demi-titans to keep them safe, and that this was just one of the many attacks that could happen unless she learned of who she really is and what she’s capable of, especially after the display she just did tonight. Concerned with previous accounts and of what happened tonight, Victoria and Henrik agreed to bring Vas to Olympus Falls if it would mean her safety.
Vasilisa found herself being escorted to one of California’s mountains with her parents one week later. The first month of her stay had been strange since most of the people kept talking to and about her and her connections with the god of the seas, something she didn’t know how to respond to at first since she never really knew her father. It did leave her with friends at the new school even on her first day, and it had been un-alienating to meet demigods like her who had different abilities. Throughout the months and years of her stay, Vasilisa learned about her power to control ice and its capabilities. She managed to improve it and discover its limits with training sessions done everyday. There were three occasions when Vas had the chance to use her powers outside training and on two of those she had exhausted herself and they discovered the consequences of her cryokinesis. Ever since then, she limited its use to a minority as suggested by her instructors.
On her 18th birthday, Vasilisa had the chance to visit her parents and celebrate by the beach where their house stood. She was given her Northern Inuit as a present, still a puppy then, and she named him Avalon after a place from a book she just read. Just before they went back to Olympus Falls, Vasilisa stopped by a souvenir shop and a snow globe by the window had caught her attention. The clerk, after knowing it was her birthday, gave away the globe as a gift along with a wish of a happy life. The snow globe found a home in Vasilisa’s room by the door where she found a habit of tapping it before exiting and turning the water to ice.
Adulthood:
Years passed since she first arrived, Vasilisa was in control of her cryokinesis and she’s attending the university with the other demigods and demi-titans. Aware of the current situation with the Titans and their children, Vasilisa tried to elude those attending school only to avoid confrontations and disputes rather than prejudging them (though she couldn’t help with all the news and lessons they have been hearing). She was more inclined with the Reyes’ than the Leclaire children, probably due to the Poseidon ties, and in fact has a little trouble getting acquainted with the Leclaires.
Growing accustomed to life at Olympus Falls, Vasilisa had experienced high school in the city and headed straight to university after. She joined the swimming team without second thoughts and tried to lead a normal life, as the Fates would allow. Accompanied by Avalon, she spends most of her time in her bedroom or taking walks outside in the grounds when not attending classes or training. She found time to visit her parents on longer durations of vacations and managed to celebrate four birthdays with them. The rest of the time she had spent reading just about anything she could grab about Poseidon, her curiosity piqued about the father she never knew and the god that she would be fighting for should a war start soon.
Sample:
Vas didn’t know how long she was running. But if it were based on the soreness of the muscles on her thigh or the way her throat hurt from lack of hydration, she’d say hours and hours now maybe even days. She didn’t know. She already lost track of time a while back. There were a lot of things she wasn’t sure since then. Were her friends still alive? Her mom? Her dad? The people they all left behind in the city?
Was she still alive herself?
She quieted her breathing as she stopped behind a rock surface and crouched as low as she could. Behind her she could hear the loud panting of the creature they had sent after her. Not just any creature. A monster. Right from Tartarus. Especially for her. Vasilisa never encountered this one before, or heard about it at least in one of her classes or books. Whatever it was seemed to be immune from her power, which definitely made things a million times worse. With the hundred times she tried to freeze it, the body only glowed red and her ice magic didn’t seem to work anymore. Like ice touching fire. Every. Single. Time.
Time was running out. Her head pounded heavily with every breath she took. Vas could feel the fever within her setting in, taking over. She started shivering just as the sun descended beyond the horizon, which had been a few hours back. Sleep was trying to take her now, but she knew the consequence if she succumbed to it. She couldn’t let it happen.
But it called out to her. Rest, the little voice at the back of her mind said. Let go and rest.
And Vasilisa was tempted.
But she knew what happened to those who succumbed. They never woke up. If she yielded now, that was one less demigod to defend the world from the Titans. No. She couldn’t let that happen. Her friends counted on her. Her parents.
Let go, Vasilisa. Close your eyes and sleep,
And her eyes started to flutter close as she panted as her mind feebly fought the command. The vibrations on the ground where she lay alerted her of the creature’s presence behind her. She didn’t know how she got down here. She didn’t know a lot of things anymore except that she was very tired. She needed rest.
She needed to sleep.
Before her eyes completely shut, she saw the creature in front of her glow a bright blue and open its mouth as if roaring out into the night. Vasilisa couldn’t hear it anymore. Her senses started to fail her. Her own breath echoed in her ear and she counted them along with the intolerable beating in her head. One… Two… Three… Just like the vibrations she felt again. With one final fight with sleep, she forced her eyes open just long enough to see two people coming towards her, seemingly shouting. It fell on deaf ears.
Just as the first one knelt in front of her, Vasilisa lost to the darkness.
